James R. Lyons letter, 1839.

This collection consists of a letter from James R. Lyons of Columbus, Georgia, to Rosannah P. Rogers. In the letter, Lyons states that the family is well. He tells of his recent trials and how her brother, General James Rogers, helped him. He also mentions that Mr. Dukes of Talbot County, Ga. was assassinated by Monroe Lynch of Guard and that several white men were murdered by runaway slaves, one of whom belonged to Gen. Watson.
